the short version
your data stays on your phone. we don't sell it, and we don't run ads. there are no accounts and no servers storing your information.
what data unvape stores
- your quit date and weekly spend (you enter these)
- daily check-in records (clean or vaped)
- craving logs (timestamp, trigger, intensity)
- savings goal name and amount
all of this is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. none of it leaves your phone unless you choose to use iCloud backup.
apple health
if you connect Apple Health, unvape reads the following metrics to show you how your body is recovering: heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, heart rate variability (HRV), respiratory rate, and VO₂ Max. this data is read-only — unvape never writes to Apple Health. the data is fetched on demand, never stored in the app, and never transmitted off your device.
icloud backup
if you enable iCloud backup in Settings, your data syncs to your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. we cannot access your iCloud data. you can disable this at any time.
purchases
unvape offers a one-time in-app purchase (“unvape pro”) processed entirely by Apple. we do not collect or store any payment information. refunds are handled through Apple.
analytics
we use PostHog for basic product analytics — screen views, feature usage, and milestone events. no health data, no craving data, and no personally identifiable information is sent. events are associated with a pseudonymous identifier derived from your quit date so we can understand retention patterns. no names, emails, or device IDs are collected.
third-party services
the only third-party service that receives data from unvape is PostHog (analytics). there are no ads, no ad networks, no data brokers, and no other third-party SDKs that process your data.
deleting your data
you can delete all your data at any time from the app: Settings → Reset to onboarding. this removes all locally stored data. if you enabled iCloud backup, you can remove that data from your iCloud account through iOS Settings.
children's privacy
unvape is not directed at children under 13. we do not knowingly collect information from children. if you believe a child is using the app, please contact us and we can help remove their data.
